SUMMARY:Road to Revolution: Middlesex County 250th Bus Tour
DESCRIPTION:Preservation New Jersey\, in partnership with Middlesex County\, is hosting a special bus tour series celebrating America 250. Each tour will begin at East Jersey Old Town Village and guide participants to a variety of historic sites throughout the county\, highlighting locations connected to the 18th century and New Jersey’s role in the founding of the nation. Attendees will gain insight into local history\, preservation efforts\, and the lasting significance of these historic places today. \nThis tour will begin at East Jersey Old Town Village\, include several stops in New Brunswick\, and conclude at the Cornelius Low House for a visit to Caught in the Crossfire: Divided Loyalties in Middlesex County. \nLunch will be provided for all attendees. The program is free and open to the public. RSVPs are required.

SUMMARY:Heritage Tourism Workshop Program 3: Visitor Experience and Site Readiness
DESCRIPTION:This seven-part professional development series equips historic site stewards\, preservation professionals\, municipal leaders\, and community advocates with practical tools to strengthen heritage tourism\, enhance visitor experiences\, and promote sustainable preservation. Through expert-led workshops\, participants will explore topics including heritage tourism planning\, inclusive storytelling\, emerging technologies\, site readiness\, regional collaboration\, marketing strategies\, and sustainable operations. \nDesigned to support New Jersey’s historic sites and cultural resources\, the series highlights innovative approaches to interpretation\, public engagement\, and community-based tourism while preparing organizations to leverage opportunities associated with America’s 250th commemoration and beyond. Participants will gain actionable strategies to increase visitation\, foster economic development\, build community partnerships\, and ensure the long-term stewardship of historic places. \nBy bringing together leaders from across the preservation\, tourism\, and cultural sectors\, this program creates a collaborative learning environment that strengthens connections between historic sites\, local communities\, and visitors while advancing the preservation of New Jersey’s rich and diverse heritage. \n  \nProgram 3: Visitor Experience and Site Readiness\nSpeaker/Program Moderator: Hargrove International \nSession Description:\nThis session teaches participants how to assess and improve the on-site visitor experience. Topics include signage\, accessibility\, wayfinding\, and interactive programming\, ensuring historic sites are welcoming\, educational\, and engaging. Emphasis is placed on aligning visitor experience improvements with preservation priorities. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nEvaluate visitor readiness and experience at historic sites.\nImplement improvements to signage\, accessibility\, and interpretive materials.\nIncrease visitor satisfaction\, participation\, and repeat visitation.\n\nThis program is supported by the New Jersey Historic Trust. \n
