Preservation New Jersey is proud to announce the release of the first video in its new “10 Most Impact” series, highlighting the real‑world outcomes of the organization’s longstanding 10 Most Endangered Historic Places Program. The inaugural video focuses on the remarkable story of the Vought House and the efforts to preserve it for future generations.
“Impacts of the 10 Most: The Vought House” is now available to watch on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/FRsO9fhVAes.
This compelling video shares how the Vought House, a rare 1759 German‑American bank house with original ornamental plaster ceilings and deep ties to New Jersey’s Revolutionary War history, went from endangered to restored through community advocacy and collaborative preservation efforts. Listed on Preservation New Jersey’s 10 Most Endangered Historic Places list in 2010, the Vought House has since become a symbol of how dedicated preservation work can save sites of outstanding historical and architectural significance.
Viewers will learn about:
- The historical significance of the Vought House, including its unique architecture and role in New Jersey’s colonial and Revolutionary War era;
- Grassroots and nonprofit efforts to save the property from demolition and deterioration;
- The challenges and successes of ongoing restoration and stewardship;
- The broader impact of the 10 Most Endangered Historic Places Program on preservation advocacy across the state.
“This video marks an important milestone in telling the stories behind endangered historic places,” said Paul Muir, President of Preservation New Jersey. “By showcasing the Vought House’s journey, we hope to inspire more communities and advocates to take action to protect New Jersey’s irreplaceable heritage.”
The 10 Most Endangered Historic Places Program annually highlights threatened historic, architectural, cultural, and archaeological resources in New Jersey in need of attention and creative solutions. The new 10 Most Impact video series will document how listing these places has helped generate awareness, support, and preservation outcomes.
