New Jersey is a state with a rich and vibrant history. We are connected to this past through historic homes, buildings and sites that define the communities we live in. Unfortunately, much of our past has been lost to development, neglect and destruction. Preservation New Jersey announces the Protect Our History Program with three areas of support to preserve historic sites and support the great work of preservationists throughout the State. PNJ supports this work through the Ken Roginski Easement Program, the Purchase and Protect Program, and the Legacy Program.

Through a generous donation, the Ken Roginski Easement Program establishes a system of protection and management for historic properties. A historic preservation easement is a legal agreement, that is recorded within the deed of the property, protecting its historic character and integrity. Preservation New Jersey acts as the easement holder overseeing the terms of the agreement. The program ensures that the property remains in private ownership while protecting the defining features for future generations.
The program recognizes the hard work that folks in this state are doing by restoring their historic properties and protecting the character of their neighborhoods and communities. Homeowners buying into this program help add to a fund to manage the easement program and protect their historic properties.

The Purchase and Protect Program is a new initiative that concentrates funds on the acquisition of historic properties for public resale with easement protections utilizing the Ken Roginski Easement Program. The program creates a viable use for historic properties, instills pride in historic home ownership, and values the importance these sites have to our communities. The funds from the sale of the property are redirected back into the program for continued purchases.

Protect New Jersey history through planned giving creating a lasting legacy that supports the work of Preservation New Jersey. A number of planned giving programs are available through the organization and include the donation of real estate, a bequest, a charitable gift annuity, a gift of securities, or through a retirement plan.
These initiatives are made in part because of the generosity of Ken Roginski a passionate preservationist who values historic buildings and believes that the hard work of private individuals in preserving the past deserves protection. Please reach out to Preservation New Jersey to learn more about each one and let’s discuss how you can help protect our history.
